*The Ballad Of Russell And Julie - Catherine Tate, David Tennant, John Barrowman (bonus track on the cast recording)
Synopsis: John Barrowman is known for his success in West End musicals and has released a CD or two in his day. Catherine Tate’s mother thinks David Tennant should be in a musical. Catherine Tate loves musical theatre - almost as much as she loves Bradley Whitford. But can the three of them get their acts together to put on the greatest musical this universe has ever seen?
The musical opens with a solo from Mrs. Tate, who proclaims that it is not in fact David Tennant’s destiny to be remembered as a Time Lord, but as a song-and-dance man. Trials, tribulations and a great deal of belting ensue, as David, Catherine and John confront their inner demons - from being a Luddite to facing critics that have written hurtful words, right through to past roles that still haunt them. BROTP is at once a lighthearted, comic romp and a heartfelt examination of what it means to be a friend, and what it means to be musical.
